Billings & E-Billings

Billing that gets paid, not rejected.

Legal billing comes with its own requirements, including client-specific formatting rules and, for firms billing institutional or insurance clients, LEDES compliance. Our billing specialists prepare and submit invoices, resolve rejections, and maintain compliance with each client's requirements, meaning fewer delayed payments and less time spent managing billing exceptions.

Why it matters:

LEDES billing (the Legal Electronic Data Exchange Standard) requires specific task, expense, and activity codes on every line of an invoice, and formatting errors as small as a stray semicolon in a time entry can get an entire invoice rejected by the client's billing platform. Many bookkeeping firms decline to offer LEDES billing at all because of the complexity. We work in it regularly, including reviewing files before submission and managing the correction and resubmission process when something is kicked back.

This includes:

  • Invoice preparation and submission, standardized time-entry language using shortcodes and templates in your billing software (LeanLaw, Clio, or another platform)
  • Resolving rejected or corrected invoices and managing resubmission
  • LEDES billing for firms that bill insurance companies, large corporations, or institutional clients, including the LEDES 1998B format most commonly required
  • Monitoring task-code budgets on institutional matters and flagging overages before they become disallowed charges

We don't just provide a service,
we provide a white-glove approach.

Our billing specialists work within each client's specific formatting and submission requirements and manage corrections and resubmissions on your behalf, as part of your ongoing engagement.
